Since 1987, this exceptional gold coin has been made available, initially featuring 22-karat gold (91.67% pure gold) from 1987 to 2012. Subsequently, starting from 2013, the Royal Mint enhanced the gold content to 24-karat gold, making it .9999 pure gold, a testament to its purity and value.
Obverse
The obverse of these exquisite 1/2 oz Gold Britannia Coins features the esteemed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II or King Charles III, depending on the coin’s minting year. For coins dated 1987 to 2023, you will find the portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Over the years, these coins have showcased three distinct portraits of the Queen, created by talented artists including Raphael Maklouf (1987), Ian Rank-Broadley (1998-2015), and Jody Clark (2016-2023). Interestingly, in mid-2023, the coins unveiled the first-ever Gold Britannia, featuring King Charles IIIs portrait designed by Martin Jennings.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin proudly presents Britannia, an iconic figure designed by Philip Nathan in 1987. She stands with confidence, facing right, holding a trident and donning a Corinthian helmet. In her left hand, she holds an olive branch resting on the Union Jack shield, symbolizing the strength and resilience of Britain.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
