Each 1/4 Idaho Goldback Gold Note offered here features brilliant 24-karat gold sealed inside the note. The obverse includes the primary artwork, while the reverse side presents a mirrored image of that design. Individual notes arrive in protective currency sleeves, while bundles of 100 notes ship without sleeves and are secured with a black band. Security features include UV-reactive details, micro-printing, and individual serial numbers on every note.

Design

On the 1/4 Idaho Goldback Gold Note, Justitia appears with the rugged landscape of Hells Canyon in the background. Formed over millions of years by the Snake River, Hells Canyon is the deepest river gorge in North America and reaches a depth of around 7,993 feet along the Idaho and Oregon border. Her belt also displays images of the syringa and the monarch butterfly. The syringa is Idahos state flower and is known for its clusters of small white blossoms and pleasant scent. The monarch butterfly, which appears beside it, was named the official state insect of Idaho in 1992.

History

Justitia, the Roman embodiment of Justice, has long served as a symbol of fairness and law. She is commonly shown wearing a blindfold to represent neutrality and impartial judgment. In one hand, she holds scales used to measure competing claims, and in the other, she carries a double-edged sword that symbolizes the power to enforce legal decisions. Her name comes from the Latin word justitia, meaning justice and righteousness, reinforcing the principle that the law should apply equally to all.
