{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}A new line of Silverbacks has arrived for collectors, featuring legendary deities linked to Mount Olympus. In Greek mythology, the Olympian gods were believed to rule from this famed mountain, shaping events for gods and humans through power, jealousy, and shifting alliances. The first release in the Legends of Olympus Series brings Hades into the spotlight, a well-known figure who ruled the underworld. Right now, 1 Hades Silverback Silver Note 100 Packs are available at BGASC.
Highlights:
All 1 Hades Silverback Silver Note 100 Packs include 100 notes bundled together, and each note arrives sealed in an individual protective sleeve. Silverbacks are especially interesting for their tiny silver weight, as each note contains 1/1000 troy oz of .999 pure silver, making them some of the smallest fractional-silver pieces available today. This Hades design is the first issue in the Legends of Olympus Series, a set created to honor the Olympian gods and the mythology that surrounds them.
Design
Obverse designs feature a bold portrayal of Hades holding the leash of Cerberus while he stands as ruler of his domain. The underworld, also referred to as Hades, was believed to be an enormous realm beneath the earth where all souls went after death, regardless of their behavior in life. Cerberus, the intimidating three-headed hound, guarded the gates, ensuring that no soul could escape once it crossed inside. Reverse designs offer a mirrored version of the obverse, presenting the same artwork in reverse orientation for a simple, matching look.
History
Stories from ancient Greece describe Hades as the master of a realm that bore his name. Souls were thought to cross the river Styx with Charon, enter through gates guarded by Cerberus, and then be judged to decide where they would spend eternity. Those deemed worthy could reach the peaceful Elysian Fields, the truly wicked were sent to Tartarus, and most common souls wandered the gloomy Asphodel Meadows in a muted, shadowy existence. Myths also mention rivers tied to fire, forgetfulness, and grief, along with areas where famous sinners such as Tantalus and Sisyphus suffered punishments that never ended.
