{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coins were introduced in 1988 as the worlds first-ever .9999 pure silver bullion coins. The coin was the third major silver bullion coin to debut behind the Mexican Libertad Silver Coin and the American Eagle Silver Coin, and it remains the second most popular coin behind only the American Eagle Silver Coins. Right now, 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins are available to purchase online in cull condition.
Highlights:
1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins offered here come in plastic flips and are cull specimens. Coins in this condition showcase a range of possible cosmetic flaws or structural defects. This manifest as visible issues that range from scratches, dark toning, and pitting to holes, retooling marks, and bends. We are not able to guarantee a specific year of issue, design, or set of specific flaws in advance. All coins are chosen at random once your payment has cleared.
Obverse
On the obverse of every Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is a portrait of the monarch in power at the time of minting. Queen Elizabeth II appears on coins dated 1988 to 2023, represented through three different right-profile designs used across those years. Each of these depictions shows Her Majesty facing right. Beginning with 2024 issues, King Charles III is presented in left-profile relief, and he is shown without a crown.
Reverse
The reverse face of 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf Coins includes a design of the sugar maple leaf. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, this image has featured on the silver coin throughout its production history. It has also featured on the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf since its 1979 debut, and is also in use on the Canadian Maple Leaf Platinum and Palladium coins.
History
The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf was introduced in 1988, following the release of the gold Maple Leaf by nearly a decade. Both versions share the same foundational design on the obverse and reverse, with changes occurring only in the monarchs portrait on the obverse over time. Coins minted from 1988 through 2023 bear images of Queen Elizabeth II, while those issued from 2024 onward feature King Charles III.
