These 1 oz Merrill Lynch Cast Gold Bars have a purity of .9999, which is considered investment grade. The bars were produced through a casting process, which gives them a slightly rugged, old-fashioned look and feel. Upon arrival, you will find your bar housed in protective plastic packaging.
Design
For the obverse of 1 oz Merrill Lynch Cast Gold Bars, you will find a bull rendition. This design is the official logo for Merrill Lynch. In the investment world, bull market is a term used to describe the increase of asset prices. The term came about due to the upward motion bulls make with their horns. It is contrasted with the bear market, which signals a downturn in prices. Below this logo, there are hallmark inscriptions reading Fine Gold, 999.9, 1 Tr oz. The reverse side of these bars has been left blank intentionally. However, because of the casting process, striations and uneven texturing may be visible.
History
Offered to Merrill Lynch customers during the 1970s, these gold bars could make for a quality investment option as well as a unique conversation starter. In 1974, prospective buyers would finally see the restrictions on private gold ownership lifted by Gerald Ford. Prior to that, Franklin Roosevelt had prohibited the possession of gold coins, bullion, and certificates under Executive Order 6102.
