{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Texas Mint has teamed up with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) to release a silver round series celebrating the organization and the rodeo competitors who represent the heart of the sport. Each round holds 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver and showcases a reverse-proof finish. You can now order the 1 oz Reverse Proof Texas Mint PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Round online at BGASC.
Highlights:
These 1 oz Reverse Proof Texas Mint PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Rounds are individually sealed in capsules, housed within presentation boxes, and covered by PRCA-themed outer sleeves. The reverse-proof finish combines frosted fields with bright, polished design details.
Obverse
The obverse of this silver round displays the PRCA emblema shield containing the image of a cowboy on horseback and the associations initials in the bottom right corner. Around the outer edge is a braided-rope border, with inscriptions that include the PRCAs full name, along with the weight, purity, and metal type.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 1 oz Reverse Proof PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Round captures a cowboy in the middle of a bareback ride. Scoring in this event totals 100 points, split evenly between two judges. Each judge can award up to 25 points for the cowboys performance and up to 25 points for the horses effort. A ride only counts if the cowboy marks out correctly, starting with both spurs touching the horses shoulders when the horse makes its first jump from the chute. Riders are judged on their rhythm and control, while horses earn points for their bucking intensity and movement.
History
Bareback riding is often seen as rodeos most demanding event. A cowboy must stay on a bucking horse for eight seconds using just one hand on a leather rigging. The rigging, resembling a suitcase handle, is secured around the horses withers. The rider places his palm-up grip inside the handle, relying on his upper body and core strength to maintain balance. Without a saddle or reins, bareback riders depend entirely on timing, strength, and technique.
