The Blue Angels were formed in 1946 under the leadership of Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Chester Nimitz as the United States Navys official flight demonstration squadron. Their creation helped keep naval aviation in the public eye following World War II. Today, the Blue Angels are known for their breathtaking aerial maneuvers and precision flying skills. Now, 1 oz United States Navy Blue Angels Silver Rounds are available online from BGASC.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in protective plastic!
  • Honors the US Navy Blue Angels!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Showcases the Blue Angels emblem on the obverse.
  • Depicts F/A-18 Super Hornets breaking formation on the reverse.

Each 1 oz United States Navy Blue Angels Silver Rounds is housed in protective plastic. These rounds honor the long-standing tradition and precision flying of the Blue Angels.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1 oz US Navy Blue Angels Silver Round features the emblem worn by the Navy Blue Angels. The emblem is divided at an angle, with the upper-right section illustrating four F/A-18 silhouettes flying in formation against a backdrop of clouds. The lower-left section displays the Naval Air Training Command insignia, which includes the Navys eagle-and-anchor logo and the outline of an aircraft carrier.

Reverse

The reverse of the United States Navy Blue Angels Silver Round presents an exciting image of the Blue Angels in action. Four F/A-18 Super Hornets are depicted breaking formation, leaving white smoke trails as they maneuver through the sky.

History

The Blue Angels initially flew the Grumman F6F Hellcat before transitioning to aircraft like the F8F Bearcat, F-9 Cougar, and F-11 Tiger. Today, they operate the F/A-18 Super Hornet, a powerful jet that enhances their ability to perform intricate aerial displays. For over 70 years, the Blue Angels have entertained more than 500 million spectators, demonstrating both their piloting expertise and the advanced capabilities of naval aviation.
