Obverse

The obverse side of the 1883 Morgan Silver Dollar proudly exhibits Morgan’s exquisite portrayal of Lady Liberty in a left-profile portrait. Emblazoned with the empowering words “E Pluribus Unum” above her head and the meticulously engraved year of minting below, this remarkable design showcases Morgan’s artistic vision and perpetuates the coin’s enduring charm.

Reverse

Featuring prominently on the reverse side of the coin is the majestic bald eagle, portrayed with majestic wings outstretched and its talons tightly gripping an olive branch and arrows. Above this commanding image, the words “United States of America” are stamped boldly, while below, the phrase “One Dollar” signifies the coin’s monetary denomination, completing its striking design.

History

The Carson City Mint issued Morgan Dollars in 13 of the 28 total years in the series. Carson City struck the coins from 1878 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893.
