{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar has long been a sought-after Carson City issue, with collector interest driven by rarity and the mints frontier-era story. Produced at the Carson City Mint in Nevada, this coin was part of a year with unusually small output for the series. Just 350,000 examples were struck, giving it a naturally limited supply. Pair that with Carson Citys connection to the Comstock Lode silver region, and you get a date that remains popular in certified grades. Right now, certified 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available from BGASC.
Highlights:
Each 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin in this offering comes protected in a plastic slab and graded VF20. This grade indicates noticeable circulation wear, especially on the higher areas of the design. Even so, the main features are still well outlined, with clear rims and readable inscriptions. Its a practical grade for collectors who want an authentic Carson City coin without stepping into higher price tiers.
Obverse
The obverse of 1889-CC Morgan Dollar Coins presents Lady Liberty in left profile. Engraver George T. Morgan introduced this design in 1878, showing Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet crown. The portrait remains a defining element of the Morgan series.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollars is the heraldic eagle. Morgans reverse shows a bold bald eagle facing forward, holding arrows for defense and an olive branch for peace. The Carson City CC below the wreath serves as the mint identifier.
History
The United States in 1889 was experiencing strong industrial expansion, but also facing growing tension over monetary policy. Railroads and factories continued pushing the economy forward in urban centers. Meanwhile, agricultural communities and silver interests argued that the gold standard kept the money supply too tight, lowering prices and increasing hardship in rural areas. These debates helped shape the political climate leading into the next decade.
