{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Morgan Silver Dollar, designed by George T. Morgan, was first minted by the United States Mint in 1878 and continued its production each year until 1904. The final minting occurred in 1921, making this dollar coin a notable part of American currency through important historical periods, including the Reconstruction Era, the Gilded Age, and the Roaring 20s. Currently, 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available for purchase online from BGASC.
Highlights:
These 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are housed in individual protective plastic flips. If you choose to order multiple coins, they are available in tubes of 20, if in stock. All coins in this listing are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The Morgan Silver Dollar features 90% silver content, with the remaining 10% being copper.
Obverse
On the obverse side, the 1900-O Morgan Dollar Coin features Lady Liberty in a left-profile relief. It is widely believed that Morgan used Anna Willes Williams as his model for this design. Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap along with a laurel wreath and a coronet crown, all surrounded by 13 stars.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollar showcases a heraldic eagle, which notably does not include a national shield in Morgan’s interpretation. The eagle is presented in a front-facing position, wings spread wide, clutching arrows of war in one talon and an olive branch representing peace in the other.
History
As the 20th century began, the Morgan Dollar was issued for the 23rd time in 1900. The coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the New Orleans Mint, and the San Francisco Mint. In total, nearly 28 million Morgan Dollars were minted that year, with New Orleans producing the highest amount at 12.59 million coins. Philadelphia was not far behind with 8.83 million coins, while San Francisco issued just 3.54 million coins.
