History
The 1908 release of Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagles is unique for its split issue of reverse designs. Coins struck early in the year lack the national motto on the reverse, while those struck later in the year feature the words IN GOD WE TRUST in an arch along the edge of the sun between the sun and its extending rays.
