He invited Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a noted sculptor, to create new images that would bring fresh artistic style to American coinage. Today, BGASC is offering certified 1927 $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coins.

Obverse
The obverse of the 1927 Double Eagle features Lady Liberty walking forward in full view. She carries a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, while the U.S. Capitol appears below and rays of sunlight extend across the field.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1927 $20 Double Eagle shows an American bald eagle gliding over the sun near the horizon. This Type III coin design includes the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, a low-relief strike, and Arabic numerals for the year.
History
In 1927, the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle was struck at three different mints: Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. This would be the final year that all three facilities produced the coin. In the years to follow, Philadelphia issued most releases. Only Philadelphia struck coins in 1928, 1929, 1932, and 1933. San Francisco alone produced the 1930 release, and both Philadelphia and Denver issued coins in 1931, with Denver striking just 106,500 of more than 3 million made.

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
