The 1955-1956 10 Peso Mexican Silver Coin honors Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Catholic priest who became a key figure in Mexicos fight for independence. With a silver content of 90% and a weight close to one ounce, the coin gained the nickname Hidalgo Grande. Today, these coins in About Uncirculated (AU) or Extremely Fine (XF) condition are available at BGASC.

Obverse

On the obverse of these coins, you will find Mexicos national emblem: a golden eagle perched on a cactus while battling a serpent. A wreath frames the lower portion, with inscriptions in Spanish identifying the country of issue and coin details.

Reverse

The reverse features the left-facing portrait of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. He is honored as the Father of Mexican Independence for his role in leading the first calls for independence from Spain.

History

Miguel Hidalgo was born in 1753 in Guanajuato and became known for his education, progressive thinking, and advocacy for indigenous and mixed-race communities. As a parish priest, he encouraged agriculture, education, and local industries, even when these activities clashed with Spanish colonial laws.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. When will my order ship?

Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.

Can I choose the method of shipping?

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.

Will I need to sign for my package?

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.

What about International Orders?

BGASC is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
