{{/presale}}Introduced in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf is one of the best-selling gold coins in the precious metals industry. The introduction and expansion of the Gold Maple Leaf Series were rapid, and done to keep pace with the South African Krugerrand. Right now, BGASC offers the 1986 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
BGASC currently has the 1986 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin available to you for purchase online with individual flips for delivery. 1986 marks the fifth release of the 1/10 oz coin in this series following its introduction in 1982.
Obverse
For the obverse design of the 1986 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf, the second-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II features in the design field. This bust of the Queen was created in 1965 by Arnold Machin for the Royal Mint and depicts the Queen at the age of 39.
Reverse
In the reverse field of the 1986 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf, you will find the sugar maple leaf. Designed in 1979 by Walter Ott, this naturalistic take on the emblem of Canada remains on the reverse of the coins today and has proliferated across the silver, platinum, and palladium versions as well.
History
Canadian Gold Maple Leaf 1 oz coins debuted in 1979 to rival the South African Krugerrand, then available in only 1 oz gold as well. The South African Krugerrand expanded the next year to include three fractional-ounce coins, and the Royal Canadian Mint would eventually expand the Gold Maple Leaf between 1982 and 1986 to include those same three options. The Royal Canadian Mint would eventually go further in introducing a 1/20 oz coin in 1993 and a 1 Gram coin in 2014.
