The series continues Britains long tradition of coin production while meeting modern investment standards. While todays Britannias contain .9999 pure gold, earlier coins like the 1989 release were struck in 22-karat gold. The 1989 1 oz British Gold Britannia Coin is available now at BGASC.
Highlights:
Each coin is delivered in a protective plastic flip. The 1989 Britannia contains 1 troy oz of gold within a 22-karat composition of 91.67% gold and copper as the remaining alloy. This year is notable as the last time copper was used in the blend. In subsequent years, from 1990 through 2012, silver replaced copper in the alloy mixture.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1989 British Gold Britannia features Raphael Makloufs third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Used between 1985 and 1997, this design shows the Queen wearing the Royal Diadem. The surrounding inscriptions list the denomination and year, completing the coins official presentation.
Reverse
On the reverse, Philip Nathans classic Britannia design is displayed. Britannia stands firm with her trident and shield, symbolizing national resilience and maritime heritage. The fine details throughout the design reflect the Royal Mints careful production standards.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days.
