{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Perth Mint launched the Silver Kookaburra Series in 1990, making it one of the earliest bullion programs to feature a native Australian animal as its central design. Since its introduction, the series has attracted collectors across the globe for its quality production, artistic designs, and focus on Australias wildlife. Today, the unique 1995 1 Kilo Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coin is available from BGASC.
Highlights:
All 1995 1 Kilo Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coins offered here come with a protective plastic flip. Only 500 examples were struck by the Perth Mint in 1995. The inclusion of the Liberty Head privy with the Morgan Dollar portrait appears to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1895 Morgan Dollar.
Obverse
On the obverse of 1995 Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coins is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This image represents the third effigy used during her reign. The design shows the Queen in right-profile wearing the George IV State Diadem and was created by Raphael David Maklouf.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1995 1 Kilo Proof Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coin shows a kookaburra gliding across the field of the coin in right-profile relief. The Liberty Head privy is located in the lower-right field below the bird. The kookaburra is one of Australias most familiar birds and serves as a national symbol. Its distinctive laughing call is widely recognized and has often been used in films and media to represent the sound of the wild.
History
This 1995 1 Kilo Proof Silver Kookaburra features a special privy mark included on the reverse. The Perth Mint placed a Liberty Head privy on the design that reflects the well-known Liberty portrait from the 1895 Morgan Dollar. That coin circulated in the United States and was first issued exactly 100 years before this Kookaburra release.
