Since its debut in 1982, the Chinese Gold Panda Series has remained a favorite among gold coin collectors. This series is known for featuring a new reverse design each year, always showcasing the beloved Giant Panda. With its detailed artwork and high gold purity, the series continues to attract both collectors and investors. Today, you can find the 1998 1/10 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin available at BGASC.

  • 17th release in the Gold Panda Series!
  • Large Date version!
  • Total mintage limited to just 8,502 coins!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.

  • The reverse depicts a Giant Panda resting on a rock while holding bamboo.

Each 1998 1/10 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin comes sealed in a protective plastic pouch. This coin is part of the Large Date variety, referring to the specific size and spacing of the year numerals. Some past Gold Panda releases have been issued with both Small Date and Large Date designs, making them appealing to collectors.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1998 Chinese Gold Panda Coin features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. Located in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, this structure has been a central part of Taoist religious practices for centuries. Since the Gold Panda Series began in 1982, this image has remained a staple on the obverse side of each coin.

Reverse

On the reverse, the 1998 1/10 oz Gold Panda Coin showcases an exclusive image of a Giant Panda. This particular design, only used in 1998, captures a panda reclining on a rock while holding a bamboo stalk in its paw.

History

Giant Pandas are known for being solitary animals. Outside of the mating season, they generally avoid interaction with others, spending most of their lives alone in bamboo forests. Each panda establishes its own territory, which typically overlaps very little with others.
