Introduced in 1990, the series, alongside the Gold Kangaroo, became known for featuring a different Australian wildlife design on the reverse each year. Each 2002 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin offered here comes individually packaged inside a protective capsule. The mintage for this release was capped at 300,000 coins, but sales reached only 91,604, reflecting a period of lower demand for the series in the early 2000s.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2002 Australian Silver Kookaburra features Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile. This portrait is the fifth official effigy of the Queen used on Australian coinage and presents her wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2002 1 oz Silver Kookaburra Coin features a kookaburra mid-flight, with a detailed outline of the Australian continent in the background. Kookaburras are known for adapting easily to various environments, including eucalypt forests, city parks, and even suburban gardens.
History
Kookaburras are native to Australia and are most commonly found along the eastern and southern regions. The laughing kookaburra has a range that spans from Cape York Peninsula all the way through New South Wales and Victoria, while the blue-winged kookaburra lives across northern parts of Australia from Western Australias Kimberley region to northern Queensland.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
