{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}When the U.S. Mint launched the American Platinum Eagle series in 1997, both the proof and bullion versions carried the same artwork on their obverse and reverse. In 1998, the Mint began releasing new reverse designs for the proof coins each year, a tradition it continued through 2016. Some of these annual designs were grouped into themed sets. The first of these collections was known as Vistas of Liberty. BGASC now offers 2002 Proof American Platinum Eagle 4-Coin Sets for those looking to add a complete year to their collection.

Each 2002 Proof American Platinum Eagle Set includes four coins: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum proofs. Each coin is sealed in its own protective capsule, and the full set is presented in a U.S. Mint display box. The set comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. These proof coins show finely frosted design elements against a reflective background.
Obverse
The obverse of all four 2002 coins displays the face of the Statue of Liberty. This design was created by John Mercanti for the start of the series in 1997. It remained on all Proof Platinum Eagles through 2017 and is still used on the obverse of bullion versions.
Reverse
On the reverse of each coin, an American bald eagle is shown in flight, reaching down to catch a trout jumping from a lake. Snow-covered mountains in the distance frame the background and suggest a Northwestern U.S. setting. This is the final release in the Vistas of Liberty series.
History
From 1998 to 2002, the Mint issued reverse designs in the Vistas of Liberty series for its Proof Platinum Eagles. These artworks showed bald eagles flying through different U.S. environments. The series featured designs by two artists: Thomas D. Rogers (1998 and 2001) and Al Maletsky (1999, 2000, and 2002).

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
