The United States Mint introduced Burnished versions of the American Silver Eagle and American Gold Eagle in 2006, providing collectors with a unique alternative. These coins featured a soft matte finish created by tumbling the blanks with a polishing medium. While Burnished Silver and Gold Eagles continue to be produced, Burnished Platinum Eagles were issued only from 2006 to 2008. Obverse
The obverse of the 2008-W 1/4 oz Burnished Platinum Eagle carries the well-known design of the Statue of Liberty by John Mercanti. This image, created in 1997 for the Platinum Eagle Series, features Libertys face in a forward-facing relief with her crown standing out prominently in the design.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2008-W Burnished American Platinum Eagle, the last design in the Foundations of Democracy Series is presented. This series, issued from 2006 to 2008, featured changing reverse designs symbolizing the three branches of the U.S. government. The 2008 design represents the Judicial Branch, depicting Lady Justice with an American bald eagle.
History
The Burnished Platinum Eagle Series was available from 2006 to 2008, with coins issued in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz sizes. After 2008, the fractional-ounce Platinum Eagles were discontinued, and the entire Burnished Platinum Eagle Series was canceled. The 2008-W 1/4 oz Burnished Platinum Eagle had the lowest mintage of its weight in the series and was the second-lowest mintage overall, following only the 2008-W 1/2 oz Burnished Platinum Eagle.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
When will my order ship?
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
Can I choose the method of shipping?
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
Will I need to sign for my package?
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
What about International Orders?
BGASC is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
