The Gold Libertads design reflects the 1921 Gold Centenario, a coin created for Mexicos 100th year of independence. Your 2010 1 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin will arrive in a protective plastic flip. This years release had a total mintage of just 4,000 coins. The 1 oz Gold Libertad has been struck in select years, including 1981, then from 1991 through 1994, and every year beginning in 2000. The first release in 1981 holds the record for highest mintage with 596,000 coins.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2010 Gold Libertad includes the official Mexican coat of arms. A golden eagle is shown in battle with a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus. Oak and laurel branches form a wreath beneath it, while the outer edge displays ten previous versions of the national seal.
Reverse
On the reverse, the coin showcases Winged Victory, the statue atop a column built in 1921 to honor Mexicos independence. Modeled after the Greek goddess Nike, this figure overlooks Mexico City, with Popocatpetl and Iztacchuatl mountains shown in the distance.
History
The Gold Centenario, which inspired the Libertad, was introduced in 1921 to mark the 100th anniversary of Mexicos independence from Spain. This coin served as a national symbol and commemorative piece during a time of major public celebrations.

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
