{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}First introduced in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf series has become one of the most important bullion coin programs in modern history. The Royal Canadian Mint used this series to establish itself as a global leader in refining and high-quality minting. When the Maple Leaf debuted, it was one of the first major bullion coins offered with .999 fine gold purity, and in 1982 the Mint raised that purity to .9999 fine gold. That improvement helped the Maple Leaf set a standard that many other gold bullion coins later matched. Today, 2011 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available online at BGASC.
Highlights:
These 2011 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available with individual flips. Whether purchased for investment or as part of a collection, this release offers a reliable example of the Maple Leaf series during an era when it was already firmly established in the international bullion market.
Obverse
For the obverse of the 2011 1/2 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin, the design showcases Susanna Blunts portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This version of the effigy was first introduced in 2003 and stands out for its simple appearance, showing the Queen without a crown. The design offers a more modern presentation than many earlier Commonwealth coin portraits. Inscriptions around the edge note the year and face value, keeping the layout straightforward while maintaining the polished look expected from the Royal Canadian Mint.
Reverse
In the reverse design of 2011 Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, the coin displays the classic sugar maple leaf image, a design that has become closely associated with Canadian bullion. Created by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Walter Ott, the maple leaf is shown with strong detail, including the natural veins and textured surfaces.
History
The 2011 1/2 oz Gold Maple Leaf coin contains 1/2 troy oz of .9999 pure gold, giving buyers a solid fractional option that still feels substantial in hand. It offers a useful balance between smaller weights and the widely popular 1 oz format. While newer issues include advanced security additions introduced in later years, this release still delivers the same high purity and consistent quality that have made the Gold Maple Leaf a trusted name among investors worldwide.
