Obverse
Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ portrayal of Liberty, crafted in 1907, remains a hallmark on the obverse of all 2011 1 oz American Gold Eagle coins. President Theodore Roosevelt personally selected Saint-Gaudens in 1905 to rejuvenate American coin design, resulting in this widely cherished depiction. Inscriptions read LIBERTY, and 2011.
Reverse
On the reverse, the American Gold Eagle exhibits the exclusive nesting bald eagle design by Miley Busiek, designed specifically for the Gold Eagle program in 1986. It portrays a female bald eagle guarding a nest full of hatchlings, while the male soars above carrying an olive branch. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ FINE GOLD, and 50 DOLLARS.
History
Despite declines in mintages for 2011 1 oz American Gold Eagle coins and fractional weight options in recent years, the overall trend has remained higher compared to previous periods in the coins history. The mintages from 2008 to the present constitute the highest 9-year stretch in the program’s history.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
