Obverse

On the obverse of the 2013 Lunar Snake Privy Silver Maple Leaf Coins, you’ll find Queen Elizabeth II depicted by Susanna Blunt. Blunt’s creation, the fourth-generation effigy of the Queen during her reign, was crafted in 2003. Notably, she is the second Canadian artist to ever create a monarch portrait for Royal Canadian Mint coins.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2013 1 oz Lunar Snake Privy Silver Maple Leafs displays Walter Ott’s splendid portrayal of the sugar maple leaf, accompanied by a special Lunar Snake privy mark. Additionally, each Year of the Snake corresponds to one of the five elements in Chinese philosophy: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water. The 2013 Year of the Snake is specifically associated with the element of Water.

History

In Chinese culture, the snake embodies wisdom, intelligence, and cunning. Those born in the Year of the Snake are believed to possess these remarkable qualities, often characterized as deep thinkers, intuitive, and resourceful individuals. Snakes are also recognized for their graceful, calm, and elegant nature, mirroring the traits associated with individuals born during the corresponding year.
