These 2015 1 oz Australian Silver Lunar Goat Lion Privy Coins are packaged in protective acrylic capsules. The Lion Privy Goat coin had a limited maximum mintage of just 35,000 pieces. This was much smaller than the 2012 Lion Privy release, which allowed a maximum of 200,000 coins. The full mintage of the 2015 coin was quickly sold once it was issued.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2015 Australian Silver Lunar Goat Coin features Queen Elizabeth II. This design shows the fourth-generation portrait created by Ian Rank-Broadley. The effigy has been widely used on modern Commonwealth coinage. The right-facing image presents the Queen wearing the well-known Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2015 1 oz Silver Lunar Goat Lion Privy Coin is the Year of the Goat design. The artwork features a goat in a natural landscape scene. Detailed engraving highlights the animals coat and the surrounding terrain. The careful presentation reflects the design style commonly found on Perth Mint lunar coins.
History
The Year of the Goat began in February 2015 in the Chinese Zodiac calendar. In different regions, the same zodiac sign may also be known as the Sheep or the Ram.
