Obverse
The obverse of the 2017-W 1 oz 225th Anniversary Liberty Gold Coin shows Liberty portrayed as an African-American woman, representing the nation’s cultural growth. Future issues will feature Liberty depicted as Asian-American, Hispanic-American, and Indian-American figures. In this design, Liberty faces left, wearing a crown of stars inspired by the Statue of Freedoms headpiece atop the U.S. Capitol. Artist Justin Kunz designed this artwork, and Phebe Hemphill, a Mint Sculptor-Engraver, sculpted the design.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2017-W High Relief 225th Anniversary American Liberty Gold Coin offers a striking image of a bald eagle in flight, symbolizing strength and freedom. Every feather and detail of the eagle is captured in stunning relief. This reverse was designed by Artistic Infusion Program artist Chris T. Costello and sculpted by Mint Sculptor-Engraver Michael Gaudioso.
History
The 2017 American Liberty Gold Coin begins a fresh 24-karat gold series from the U.S. Mint, with each future coin highlighting a new version of Liberty. Struck at the West Point Mint, the coin features impressive high-relief detail and edge lettering reading 225th Anniversary with stars on each side a rare feature on U.S. coins.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days.
