The wedge-tailed eagle is Australia’s largest bird of prey and the fourth-largest flying raptor worldwide. Found throughout mainland Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea, these large birds primarily feed on carrion, supplemented occasionally by live rabbits and even lambs. While endangered in Tasmania, the wedge-tailed eagle population in Australia remains stable, a testament to their resilience in their natural habitat.
