Obverse
Palau’s “Rainbow’s End” emblem appears on the obverse, surrounded by silk-finish decorations showing the rocks of the Australian wilderness and a starry sky above. All of this is accompanied by the inscriptions “Republic of Palau,” “Hunters By Night,” and “50$.”
Reverse
Captured in gorgeous matte-black that matches its real-life coloration, an ultra high-relief sculpture of the python comprises the coin’s reverse side, seeming almost to “emerge” three-dimensionally from the coin’s surface. It sports vivid red-gold eyes and a flickering tongue, with its powerful constricting coils as a backdrop.
History
Created with the Coin Investment Trust’s proprietary SmartMinting technology, this coin is one of the most anticipated additions to the Hunters By Night series for the year 2023. Part of a series that has also celebrated the Black Panther and the Eagle Owl, it’s a tribute to one of the most unique python species to be found anywhere, a marvel of evolution that combines adaptations for ambush predation with heat regulation.
