{{/presale}}The latest round from Intaglio Mint centers on the concept of Morte Prima di Disonore. In English, this means death before dishonor. Adherents to this ancient code of conduct should be willing to sacrifice their lives in battle rather than live dishonorably. Today, BGASC has 2023 1 oz Morte Prima di Disonore Silver Rounds available to purchase online.
Round Highlights:
Each individual 2023 1 oz Morte Prima di Disonore Round will arrive to you in a protective flip. But should you purchase multiples of 20, they will be delivered in a plastic tube. These rounds were struck by Intaglio Mint in .999 pure silver and will ship to you in brand-new condition.
Obverse
For the obverse of 2023 Morte Prima di Disonore Silver Rounds, we find a skull wearing a Roman military helmet. Known as a Galea, this helmet has a sword sticking through it that then emerges from the skulls mouth. This haunting image is surrounded by crosses and scrolls along with an inscription reading Morte Prima di Disonore.
Reverse
Upon the reverse of the 1 oz Morte Prima di Disonore Silver Round, we see the Intaglio Mint insignia. This design resembles a Roman column with its edges curved to resemble the letter I. We find inscriptions as well on the reverse that read Intaglio Mint, Est. 2010, One Troy Ounce, .999 Fine Silver, 2023.
History
Fans of the Japanese Samurai will be quite familiar with the idea of Morte Prima di Disonore. Death before dishonor was central to these legendary warriors and their code of ethics known as Bushido. But ideas of military glory and honor can be traced back much further. We find it in ancient Rome with Catiline and before that in the works of Homer as he chronicles the events of the Trojan War and the journey of the hero Odysseus.
