This release is part of a 2023 Humpback Whale Series that also includes a 1/4 oz gold version issued by the Perth Mint. The reverse field includes a P mint mark, confirming the mint of origin.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2023 Australian Humpback Whale Silver Coin displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Introduced in 2015, this portrait became the sixth-generation design used on Australian coinage from 2018 through 2023. The Queen is shown in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2023 2 oz Australian Humpback Whale Silver Coin, a humpback whale is shown breaching above the ocean surface. This scene reflects the whales strength and highlights its long-distance migrations between feeding and breeding waters that span thousands of miles each year.
History
Humpback whales are well known for their annual migration routes, which can span up to 16,000 miles. These journeys take them from cold, food-rich waters near the poles to warmer tropical seas where breeding occurs. Male humpbacks produce long, structured songs during breeding season, with vocal patterns that can change gradually over time.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
