{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Burnished American Silver Eagle serves as the Uncirculated collector version of the popular series and is known for its soft, satin-style finish. Unlike the standard bullion strike or the reflective Proof coin, the burnished edition has a refined, matte surface. These coins are struck at the West Point Mint and carry the W mint mark. Produced on specially prepared burnished planchets and released in limited quantities, they provide collectors with a distinct option within the Silver Eagle lineup. At this time, certified 2023-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coins are available from BGASC.
Highlights:
All 2023-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagles in this listing are certified MS70 by NGC. A Mint State 70 grade means the coin shows full mint brilliance and no visible imperfections. The Advanced Release designation confirms the coins were submitted to NGC before their official release date, adding an extra level of interest for those who collect early-graded issues.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2023-W Burnished American Silver Eagle features the historic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. Liberty is shown walking confidently toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag and holding olive branches. The flowing lines and balanced details have helped make this one of the most recognized designs in U.S. coin history.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2023-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle showcases the modern bald eagle design from Emily Damstra. First introduced in 2021, this artwork presents the eagle in mid-flight, seen from below with wings extended and an oak branch in its talons. The updated design offers a realistic look at the national symbol while continuing the tradition of featuring the bald eagle.
History
The United States Mint introduced the Burnished Silver Eagle in 2006 as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the series. These coins were issued from 2006 to 2008, followed by a two-year break in 2009 and 2010. Annual releases resumed in 2011 and have continued each year since. The largest production year was 2007, when 621,333 coins were struck. In 2023, the mintage reached 160,865 coins.
