{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}African lions are the second-largest big cats and are native mostly to sub-Saharan Africa, with a smaller population living in Indias Gir Forest. These predators do best in open regions such as savannas and grasslands where they can hunt larger animals. The Worlds Wildlife Series continues with its seventh issue, featuring a young lion cub as the main design. Right now, 2025 1/2 Gram Proof Congo Worlds Wildlife Gold The Lion Coins are available at BGASC.
Highlights:
Each 2025 1/2 Gram Proof Congo Worlds Wildlife Gold The Lion Coin comes secured in its own capsule for added protection. Proof coins are known for their careful striking, and this one combines frosted design elements with reflective fields to create a clear, high-contrast finish.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Proof Congo Worlds Wildlife Gold The Lion Coin depicts a front-facing lion cub. In many African communities, the lion has long been a symbol of power, guardianship, and leadership. That meaning continues today, with lions commonly appearing as national symbols, team mascots, and familiar branding across different parts of the world.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025 1/2 Gram Proof Worlds Wildlife Gold The Lion Coin is the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The seal shows a rock base with an elephant tusk on the left and a spear on the right. Between them, a leopard head is shown in forward-facing relief at the center of the design.
History
Lions are different from most other cats because they live together in prides. These groups are usually made up of related females, their cubs, and one or more males that help protect the territory. The females do most of the hunting and may coordinate their efforts to take down prey like zebras and buffalo. In recent decades, lion numbers have fallen as habitats have changed, conflicts with humans have increased, and prey populations have shifted.
