Each 2025 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Coin offered here has been graded Mint State 70, meaning it has no imperfections and maintains its full original luster. The First Strike designation means the coin was certified within 30 days of its official mint release.
Obverse
The obverse of the coin features a Native American man facing to the right. Fraser combined the features of three tribal leaders he had met in person over the years. This made it one of the earliest examples of an Indigenous portrait on a U.S. coin.
Reverse
On the reverse, youll find an image of an American bison on a small mound of earth. The animal is modeled after Black Diamond, a buffalo that lived in the Central Park Zoo. Frasers design shows the bison in a powerful but calm stance, symbolizing the resilience of the American frontier.
History
The coins design comes from James Earle Fraser, who originally created it for the Buffalo Nickel in 1913. His artistic achievements also include notable military medals like the Navy Cross and WWI Victory medal. He was known for using American themes and symbols, shaped by his childhood on the Great Plains. Frasers style made a lasting impression on American coin design with images that felt both real and respectful.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
