Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 Cambodia Silver Lost Tigers Coins features a detailed image of Angkor Wat. This incredible monument is known as the world’s largest religious structure and showcases the architectural brilliance and spiritual devotion of the Khmer Empire during its golden age. Built in the early 12th century under King Suryavarman II, Angkor Wat was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu before evolving into a Buddhist temple over several centuries.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2025 1 oz Silver Lost Tigers Coins, you will find a depiction of an adult tiger lying in the grass near Angkor Wat, accompanied by two of its playful cubs. The tiger has been a prominent motif in traditional Khmer art and architecture, reflecting its deep-rooted significance within Cambodia’s cultural identity.

History

The Indochinese tiger once roamed the lush forests of Cambodia, particularly in the Cardamom Mountains and eastern plains. As an apex predator, these magnificent creatures played an important role in the ecological balance of their habitat. Historical records from the French colonial period document numerous tiger sightings and highlight their significance to the Khmer people, who regarded these majestic animals as symbols of power and spiritual importance.
