{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Sea Life Series from Scottsdale Mint pays tribute to some of the most iconic marine animals living around the Cayman Islands. With each new release, the series rotates between three native speciesthe Blue Marlin, the Loggerhead Turtle, and the Stingray. These designs help connect the series to the natural environment of the Caribbean. BGASC now offers the 2025 1 oz Cayman Islands Silver Sea Life Marlin Coin for purchase.
Highlights:
Each 2025 1 oz Cayman Islands Silver Sea Life Marlin Coin is packaged in a protective plastic flip. These coins are proof-like specimens, with light frosting on the raised design and reflective mirror-like fields in the background. The total mintage is limited to 25,000 coins.
Obverse
The obverse design features the Cayman Islands coat of arms. A shield at the center shows three stars and wave patterns, which represent the territorys three main islands and their location in the Caribbean. A golden lion above the shield reflects the Cayman Islands link to the United Kingdom. The knot and turtle point to maritime traditions, and a pineapple sits at the crest as a reminder of local crops.
Reverse
The reverse showcases a Blue Marlin gliding through the Caribbean waters. These fish are found in the region due to the deep ocean trench and steep drop-offs close to the coast, which create the perfect hunting grounds. This scene reflects the marlins presence in Cayman waters and highlights its role in the local ecosystem.
History
Blue Marlin are fast, ocean-going fish known for traveling great distances. They mainly eat other fish, such as tuna and mackerel, along with squid. Their long, pointed bills help them strike prey and move efficiently through the ocean. Around the Cayman Islands, the nearby Cayman Trench provides nutrient-rich waters that attract smaller fish, making it a great feeding area for Blue Marlin.
