{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Chinese dragon legends go back over 7,000 years, starting in the Neolithic period. These creatures began as symbols in ancient totems and slowly became one of the most meaningful images in Chinese heritage. Unlike the dragons found in European myths, Chinese dragons were admired as kind and wise protectors who could bring rain and promote balance. In 2025, the Chinese Mint introduces the Chinese Dragon Series, a new silver bullion coin collection. BGASC is now offering the 2025 1 oz Chinese Mint Silver Dragon Coins.
Highlights:
The 2025 1 oz Chinese Mint Silver Dragon Coins are all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are individually packaged in plastic flips or in protective tubes of 20. This marks the first-ever release of this exciting new bullion collection from the Chinese Mint and the second-ever silver bullion coin series from China.
Obverse
The obverse of each coin features the Great Wall of China, one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Although it is thought of as one wall today, it started as smaller, separate walls built by different Chinese states during the 7th century BCE. When China was unified under Qin Shi Huang in 221 BCE, these early sections were connected to build a stronger line of defense.
Reverse
On the reverse of the coin, there is a detailed image of a Chinese dragon. These creatures have long appeared in many parts of Chinese life, such as painting, sculpture, architecture, and religion. They represent good fortune, strength, wisdom, and the yang energy of nature according to Taoist beliefs.
History
Dragon images from Chinas Yangshao culture (50003000 BCE) were originally snake-like in form. Over time, artists added traits like deer antlers, fish scales, and clawed feet, especially during the Shang and Zhou dynasties. In the Han Dynasty, the dragon was adopted as a royal emblem, and the five-clawed version came to represent the emperor himself.
