{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The HMS Bounty was a small merchant vessel acquired by the Royal Navy in 1787 for a special mission to collect breadfruit plants from Tahiti and bring them back to the West Indies. Under the command of Lieutenant William Bligh, the ship was refitted for botanical transport and set sail from England in December 1787 with a crew of 46 men. What began as a routine mission became one of the most well-known chapters in maritime history. Right now, 2025 1 oz Pitcairn Islands Silver Bounty Coins are available from BGASC.
Highlights:
Each 2025 1 oz Pitcairn Islands Silver Bounty Coin is offered in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. This coin is part of the second year of the Pitcairn Islands Bounty series. You can find it in plastic flips, acrylic tubes of 20, or boxes of 100 coins (each box contains five tubes of 20 coins).
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 Pitcairn Islands Silver Bounty Coin, you will find a first-generation effigy of King Charles III. This portrait shows the King in left-profile relief, without a crown, and was designed by Jody Clark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Silver Bounty Coin features an image of the HMS Bounty. Originally named the Bethia, the ship was renamed after being acquired by the Royal Navy. It was a typical merchant ship for its time, measuring just 91 feet in length.
History
The mutiny on the HMS Bounty, which occurred on April 28, 1789, is one of the most famous events in maritime history. Led by Fletcher Christian, 25 crew members seized control of the ship from Lieutenant William Bligh after months spent in Tahiti, where they had become accustomed to the island lifestyle, making Blighs strict naval discipline hard to follow.
