Obverse
On the obverse of this coin, youll find the Samoan coat of arms placed at the center of the balls design. Over time, as the sport changed and passing became more common, the footballs shape was adjusted to a longer, narrower form. This shapeknown as a prolate spheroidhelped players pass the ball more easily and accurately.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin shows a realistic college-style football, complete with color and white stripes. In the 1950s, changes in how footballs were madeincluding the use of synthetic materialshelped the balls keep their shape, even in tough weather.
History
In the 1800s, footballs were not uniform and looked more like rugby balls. These early versions were made from animal bladders covered in leather. Because of their uneven shape, the way the ball bounced or moved was hard to predict, making play challenging.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
