Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Peace Dollar features the forward-facing portrait of Liberty created by Anthony de Francisci. Her radiant crown resembles the Statue of Liberty, symbolizing freedom and optimism. The design was considered modern for its time and remains one of the most recognizable images in American coinage.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Peace Dollar shows a bald eagle perched on a rock while holding an olive branch. By choosing the olive branch instead of arrows, the design emphasizes peace. A rising sun appears behind the eagle, and the word PEACE is inscribed beneath the rock, reinforcing the theme introduced in 1921.
History
The Peace Silver Dollar made its debut in December 1921. That year, the US Mint briefly resumed Morgan Dollar production before introducing the new Peace design. These releases represented the first freshly minted silver dollars since 1904. Ultimately, the Peace Dollar became the final silver dollar intended for everyday circulation in the US.
