Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle showcases Augustus Saint-Gaudens famous Lady Liberty artwork, originally used on the $20 Double Eagle. Liberty is shown walking forward with confidence, holding a torch and olive branch. Sun rays stretch behind her, the U.S. Capitol is featured near the lower background, and a circle of stars frames the edge.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026 1/2 oz Gold Eagle is the updated bald eagle design introduced in 2020 by artist Jennie Norris. The portrait focuses on the eagles head, offering crisp detail and a modern presentation of Americas national bird.
History
The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle was part of the original 1986 lineup, released alongside the 1 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz versions. Since then, the US Mint has produced each size every year to satisfy steady collector and investor demand. Even so, mintages for the 1/2 oz coin have varied with the market, rising or dipping during periods shaped by events like the Y2K scare, the Great Recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
