In 2026, the American Gold Eagle Series will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Over the years, this program has featured coins in four sizes, including a 1 oz version and three fractional denominations. The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle, first issued in 1986, is the largest among the fractional coins and remains a core part of the lineup. BGASC is now offering 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Tubes.

Highlights:

  • Come with an acrylic tube!
  • Includes 40 coins in total!
  • Celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Gold Eagle Series!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of actual gold content per coin in BU condition (20 Troy oz total).
  • The face value of $25 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Obverse showcases Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse features a bald eagle design.
  • Please note that the US Mint has not yet released designs, and images are subject to change.

Each 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Tube from BGASC holds 40 individual coins. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and packaged in an acrylic tube. The full tube contains a total of 20 Troy ounces of 22-karat gold.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 Gold Eagle includes the well-known Lady Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. In this image, Liberty walks confidently forward with a torch raised in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Behind her, you’ll see the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays, and stars.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 1/2 oz Gold Eagle presents a modern bald eagle design. Introduced in 2021, this artwork by Jennie Norris shows the eagles head in a focused left-profile view, highlighting its sharp features and detailed feathers.

History

While the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle didnt surpass its original mintage figures in later years, certain events still drove up demand. One such case was in 1999, when concerns over the Y2K issue sparked renewed interest in gold, giving the coin its second-largest mintage.
