Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 1 Gram Gold Noahs Ark Coin features the Armenian national coat of arms. This design was adopted on April 19, 1992, and includes an eagle and lion standing as supporters beside a central shield. Both figures are important symbols in Armenian culture and reflect the strength of the regions earliest kingdoms. The shield is divided into four sections with traditional heraldic symbols, while the center includes a small image of Noahs Ark placed on Mount Ararat.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2026 Armenian Gold Noahs Ark Coin, the Ark is shown floating in the middle of the design. A dove carrying an olive branch flies toward the Ark, representing peace after the flood. In the background, Mount Ararat rises beneath the sun, symbolizing the traditional resting place of the Ark described in scripture. Along the outer edge, the inscriptions include Noahs Ark written in Armenian and English.

History

The biblical story tells how Noah, his family, and pairs of animals entered the Ark before the flood began. Rain fell for forty days and forty nights, and the waters rose until they covered the earth. The flood remained for one hundred and fifty days before the waters started to recede. Eventually, the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. After sending out a raven and later a dove, Noah knew land was returning when the dove came back with a freshly plucked olive leaf.
