The United States Mints 2026 lineup includes two major anniversaries for its signature bullion coins. This year marks 40 years for the American Eagle Series and 20 years for the American Buffalo Gold Coin, first released in 2006. BGASC now offers 2026 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Tubes for purchase.

Highlights:

  • Comes packaged in an acrylic tube!
  • Holds 20 coins in total!
  • Honors the 20th anniversary of the Gold Buffalo Series!
  • Each coin contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition (20 Troy oz total).
  • $50 (USD) face value per coin backed by the US government.
  • Obverse shows a portrait of an indigenous figure.
  • Reverse features an American bison.
  • Please note that the US Mint has not yet released designs, and images are subject to change.

A 2026 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Tube contains 20 coins, each with 1 Troy oz of 24-karat gold. The total weight is 20 Troy ounces, and all coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition inside a durable acrylic tube.

Obverse

The obverse design on the 2026 American Gold Buffalo presents a right-facing portrait of an indigenous figure. This composite image was created by Fraser in 1913 using the features of three different Native American men from the early 20th century.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Gold Buffalo is a left-profile image of an American bison. Fraser used a real animal named Black Diamond, a resident of the Central Park Zoo in New York City in the early 1900s, as his inspiration. The design shows the bison grazing with its head lowered on a small patch of raised ground.

History

Launched in 2006, the American Gold Buffalo features the timeless design of the 1913 Buffalo Nickel by James Earle Fraser. The debut year saw 337,012 coins sold, the highest mintage in the series until 2021s total of 350,500 coins. In 2022, the record rose again to 410,000 coins sold.
