Obverse
On the obverse of the 2026 Armenian Silver Noahs Ark Coin, you will find the Armenian coat of arms. Adopted in 1992, the design shows an eagle and a lion supporting a central shield. These animals reflect symbols used by Armenias historic kingdoms. The shield is divided into four parts with heraldic imagery, and a smaller depiction of Noahs Ark on Mount Ararat is placed at the center.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026 1 oz Silver Noahs Ark Coin displays Noahs Ark floating across calm waters. A dove with an olive branch approaches the Ark, symbolizing hope and renewal. In the distance, Mount Ararat stands beneath the sun, marking the Arks traditional resting place. The inscription Noahs Ark appears in both Armenian and English along the rim.
History
Early Christian artwork frequently showed Noah inside a small ark on the sea, representing Gods care for the early Church. In City of God, Augustine of Hippo described how the Arks dimensions symbolically matched those of the human body, tying the story to Christian teachings. Jerome later explained that the dove and olive branch represented the Holy Spirit and salvation. Over time, this symbolism became commonly associated with peace.
