The kookaburra is a well-known symbol of Australia and is instantly recognized by its loud, laughter-like call. Often heard in the early morning or evening, this native bird has become closely associated with the countrys natural landscape and outdoor life. Its popularity has made it a frequent subject in Perth Mint coin designs. Today, 2026 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins are available online from BGASC.

Highlights:

  • Coins arrive in plastic capsules, sealed rolls of 20 coins, or mint-sealed boxes of 100 coins!
  • 37th release of Silver Kookaburra coins!
  • Limited mintage of only 500,000 coins!
  • Contains 1 troy oz of .9999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $1 (AUD) by Australia.
  • King Charles III on the obverse of the coin.
  • A kookaburra flies above a lush, coastal region of Australia.
  • Designed by Wade Robinson.

These 2026 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is individually sealed in a plastic capsule. Orders of 20 coins ship in sealed rolls, while quantities of 100 coins are packaged in boxes containing five rolls.

Obverse

The obverse side of the 2026 1 oz Silver Kookaburra Coin features a left-profile portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Dan Thorne, the image shows His Majesty without a crown and reflects a clean, modern appearance. This portrait marks the first time King Charles III has appeared on Australian coinage.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra depicts a single kookaburra in flight above a scenic coastal setting. Kookaburras are known for gathering with family members at sunrise and sunset to take part in communal calling, producing the loud vocalizations that have made the bird famous.

History

These calls serve an important role by helping define territory and communicate with neighboring groups. The sounds often travel far through the landscape, especially in the evening when multiple birds join the chorus. The reverse artwork captures both the energy of the bird and the environment it calls home.
