Obverse
The obverse of 2026 Canadian Silver Treasured Maple Leaf Wolf Privy Coins shows the first-generation portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, this effigy is notable as just the second monarch portrait in Canadian coin history to be created by a Canadian. The King appears in left-profile relief and is shown without a crown.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026 1 oz Silver Treasured Maple Leaf Wolf Privy Coins features the long-running sugar maple leaf design. Originally debuted in 1979 by Walter Ott, the motif presents a detailed and natural view of the leaf with strong texturing and veining. The small Wolf Privy mark is located to the left of the stem.
History
Gray wolves are thought to have originated in Eurasia and later traveled into North America using the Bering land bridge during the Pleistocene epoch. Estimates commonly suggest this happened somewhere between 300,000 and 750,000 years ago. Once established on the continent, wolves adapted to many different environments and developed distinct populations across forests, plains, mountains, and tundra. Through thousands of years, they became the apex predators that once lived across nearly all of North America.
