Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Proof Australian Silver 175th Anniversary of Australias First Gold Rush Coin features King Charles III. He is shown in left-profile relief without a crown. This design was created by Dan Thorne and marks the first portrait of the King used on Australian coins.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Proof Silver 175th Anniversary of Australias First Gold Rush Coin, you will see imagery associated with the gold mining period. The background includes tools and scenes such as wheelbarrows, tents, and gold pans. In the center is a 175th-anniversary emblem with a crossed shovel and pick ax, along with the outline of Australia and the number 175.
History
In early 1851, Edward Hargraves, a prospector who had experience in California, reported finding gold near Bathurst in New South Wales. He named the location Ophir and used panning techniques to collect gold from nearby streams. After confirming his findings, he informed colonial officials, which led to increased interest and activity in the region.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days.
