{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Marvel Comics Presents #72 from 1991 is widely remembered as a major chapter in Wolverines comic book legacy. The issue is part of the famous Weapon X storyline created by Barry Windsor-Smith, who both wrote and illustrated the series. Running from issues #7284 in Marvel Comics Presents, the arc explores the painful experiments that transformed Logan into the hero known as Wolverine. The cover from that historic issue is now featured on a 1 oz silver foil coin with colorized detail. Today, 2026 1 oz Proof Colorized Niue Silver Wolverine Weapon X #72 Foils are available online from BGASC.
Highlights:
These 2026 1 oz Proof Colorized Niue Silver Wolverine Weapon X #72 Foils arrive in presentation packaging and include a Certificate of Authenticity. Each foil features proof-like visuals on both sides, while the reverse uses colorization to capture the look of the original comic cover. There is also a 10% chance that collectors will receive a variant design. This version keeps the same imagery but limits the colorization to the Wolverine figure.
Obverse
In the obverse design of the 2026 Proof Colorized Niue Silver Wolverine Weapon X #72 Foil, the Public Seal of Niue is displayed with elements referencing Marvel Comics. The obverse also carries the identifying hallmarks that note the foils weight, purity, and issuing country.
Reverse
For the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Proof Colorized Silver Wolverine Weapon X #72 Foil, the artwork mirrors the cover from the 1991 comic. Wolverine appears split between his primal mutant instincts and his human side. The typical version features a fully colorized background, though the variant limits the colorization to Wolverine and the Weapon X lettering.
History
The Weapon X storyline tells a powerful and unsettling chapter in Wolverines past. In the story, Logan is captured and subjected to intense experimentation by a hidden scientific program. The process strips him of control while turning him into a living weapon. Barry Windsor-Smith presented the story with a haunting tone and detailed artwork that highlights Wolverines suffering. Because of this approach, the arc remains one of the most respected Wolverine stories in Marvel Comics.
