{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Nez Perce have lived in the Idaho region for thousands of years, forming winter villages along river valleys and then traveling with the seasons to hunt, fish, and gather roots across the plateau country. Their yearly cycle often matched the timing of salmon runs, camas harvesting, and buffalo hunts east of the mountains, supporting a semi-nomadic lifestyle guided by deep knowledge of local resources. Their legacy is honored as part of the 46th issue in the Native America the Beautiful Series. Right now, 2026 1 oz Proof Native America the Beautiful Idaho Silver Coins are available from BGASC.
Highlights:
All 2026 1 oz Proof Native America the Beautiful Idaho Silver Coins available at BGASC come in capsules and include a presentation box. Each coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and features proof-style finishes, including frosted devices and mirrored background fields.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2026 Proof Native America the Beautiful Idaho Silver Coins, the artwork shows Nez Perce members building canoes in moonlight. In September 1805, the Lewis and Clark Expedition arrived in Nez Perce territory worn down and short on supplies. The tribe helped the explorers with food, assisted in building canoes, and offered guidance that helped them continue their journey along the rivers toward the Pacific.
Reverse
The reverse of 2026 1 oz Proof NATB Idaho Silver Coins features the emblem used across the series, centered on an American bald eagle. The eagles head appears within an eight-pointed star, and arrowheads fill the spaces between the stars points around the outside edge, creating a familiar design used on every release.
History
Though the Nez Perce are widely known by a French name that translates as pierced nose, the peoples own name for themselves is Nimipuu, meaning the people. Their traditional homelands extend through parts of modern Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, with strong connections to the Clearwater, Snake, and Salmon river valleys. Often recognized for strong horsemanship and for breeding the Appaloosa horse, the Nez Perce built a rich culture tied closely to the rivers, plateaus, and open spaces of their region.
