{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Koalas are widely recognized as one of Australias most familiar animals and are closely associated with the nations native environment. Their presence has long supported conservation awareness and wildlife education efforts. In 2026, the Royal Australian Mint presents the third release in its RAM Koala Series. Collectors can now find the 2026 1 oz Royal Australian Mint Gold Koala Coin available online from BGASC.
Highlights:
These 2026 1 oz Royal Australian Mint Gold Koala Coins are struck in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is individually sealed within a protective plastic capsule, and groups of 10 coins are secured together in sealed plastic rolls.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 1 oz RAM Gold Koala Coin features an official portrait of King Charles III. Shown in left-profile relief, the design was created by Dan Thorne and depicts the King without a crown. This effigy marks one of the earliest appearances of King Charles III on Australian gold coinage.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026 Royal Australian Mint Gold Koala Coin, a family of koalas is shown resting among the branches of a gum tree. While koalas are commonly thought to be affectionate animals, they typically live solitary lives. The most important bond is between mother and joey, which is highlighted in this scene.
History
A female koala raises her joey alone from birth. The joey spends its first several months safely inside the pouch before emerging and riding on its mothers back. During this time, the young koala learns to climb and adapt to its eucalyptus-based diet while remaining under close supervision.
When the joey reaches approximately 12 months of age, it leaves its mothers territory to live independently. Adult koalas usually avoid interaction with others except during breeding season. During this time, males may compete for mates through vocal calls and limited physical contact.
